Engineer

As an early phase startup, Quicksilver is seeking an Engineer who is broadly competent and dedicated to ownership of deliverables throughout the company.  Given the size of the team, you will be considered “essential personnel” and will be working across several roles as the company begins to scale.

 

We are looking for a Staff or Senior Engineer to build an interface between our sensor platform and users – both internal and external. 

Responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute mixed-signal CMOS integrated circuit designs for product integration

  • Develop printed-circuit board designs, FPGA prototyping, and Python programming for Quicksilver products.


Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:

  • B.S. with 3+ years of relevant experience or PhD in electrical engineering (for senior position)

  • B.S. in electrical engineering with demonstrated coursework or project experience for entry-level staff position

  • Good emotional intelligence with the awareness that facilitates team effectiveness

  • Proven ability to operate and execute with minimal oversight

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Background in hardware development, including integrated circuit design, printed circuit board assembly and design  

  • Experience with biology a plus (but it's okay if you don't!)

Senior Scientist

The senior scientist will lead the optimization of the chemical process used to functionalize our sensors.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop techniques for enhancing and quantifying yield during various steps of the functionalization process

  • Lead biological testing utilizing our proprietary detection mechanism to validate sensor operation

Qualifications:​

  • M.S. with 3+ years experience or PhD in chemistry/biochemistry

  • Experience with surface characterization techniques

  • Working knowledge of various surface biofunctionalization methods

  • Prior electrochemistry work a plus​
